Childhood Dreams Can Come True. Even 60 Years Later.

All of us have dreams; especially kids. For Gwen McLoughlin, a lifelong Yankees fan, that dream was to be the team’s batgirl. That dream finally came true.

According to Today, when she was 10, Gwen wrote a letter to the Yankees Team asking to be a batgirl and she was turned down saying she would feel out of place being a young girl in a male-dominated sport. It definitely was not the response she wanted but she stayed a Yankees fan.

60 years later, after her daughter forwarded the letter to the Yankees, thanks to the team’s general manager Brian Cashman, Gwen was able to realize her 10-year-old dream of being a batgirl for the New York Yankees. “It’s been an amazing opportunity. A day of a lifetime,” she said after the game. “I can’t put it into words.”
